What Kind of Relationship does Our Father desire to have with Us? Relational or Transactional?

We live in a society and culture that rewards success. We eulogize rainmakers: people who do great works and accomplishments; often at the expense of others. The orphan spirit is running wild, capturing our souls (mind and emotions), yet where are the sons and daughters? We continuously compare ourselves to one another against the advice of Scripture, trying to make ourselves feel better about who we are; yet not knowing who we are in the first place. An orphan always needs (aka Bill Murray in the movie "What about Bob"), yet a son receives what he has been given and distributes it to others.
